My poem today is a bit of a departure for me. The prompt that inspired it are at NaPoWriMo and Poetic Asides. I hope you will visit those sites for inspiration.

Unlikely

I’m gonna get me a boat,
One that will float,
Attach a long rope
Find me a driver
Who will go on the river
And try my best to ski,
If it doesn’t defeat me.

I’m gonna get me a boat,
One that will float;
And try my best to ski,
If it doesn’t defeat me.

Now you must know,
If you aren’t slow,
It’s been many years
And quite a few pounds
Since I made the rounds
In back of a boat
So now I can’t gloat.

I’m gonna get me a boat,
One that will float;
And try my best to ski,
If it doesn’t defeat me.

I don’t have the money
Nor even a honey
To depend on to pull
Me over the water
So it may not matter
That I want to ski,
No one’s agreeing with me.

I am grateful:

1.   I have prompts to help me write poems this month.
2.   I did not go out today.
3.   Even though I am overweight, I am fairly healthy, excluding my mental health issues.
4.   When Mom said she wanted macaroni and cheese, which she cannot have, I suggested macaroni salad.
5.   I did most of the work preparing our meal.

My Wednesday has been quite pleasant. I hope your day was also rewarding. As you are sitting there, engage your imagination and create something that will entertain others. You have the talent required, you must only make an effort.

As a prompt, write about something you are procrastinating over doing. There is always something we are putting off. You can write a poem, story, or journal entry that gives us the details. Please leave a link to your work in the comments below if you use this prompt.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope my bit of silliness made you laugh. My Mom and I had a chuckle over the poem when I read it aloud. Please come back often, but you might also want to enter you email address in the space above so you will receive future updates to Chronicles. Comments let me know if I am succeeding with this endeavor, so please leave one.

Always,
Jo Ann
