365 Creativity Project-Day 296

Journal entry:

Journal 10-31-20120001

Coercion

When looking around
The corner what did I see,
But a scary man
Staring straight into my eyes
Without any fear of me.

I am not fearsome,
So easily overcome
By any other
Who stands up against me with
A firm presence, unafraid.

I only know how
To fade into the distance
Disappearing out
Of sight of those who are strong
And full of raging anger.

I fight my battles
With simple syllables that
Flow ever freely
From my trembling lips into
The awaiting empty space.

A frightening thing
Is a man who attempts to
Intimidate me
By taking away my voice
To reach out unto the world.

365 Creativity Project-Day 295

Journal entry:

Journal 10-30-20120001

Today’s poem was prompted by Carry On Tuesday. If you are in need of inspiration, you might like to visit that site.

Beneath The Surface

There is a child in
Every one of us hidden
Beneath the surface
Of our adult bodies and
Very grown up attitudes.

The petulant child
Shows up in temper tantrums,
Childish behavior,
And the unreasonable
Demands we make on others.

The playful child lives
Within forever wistful
Hearts urging us to
Enjoy every moment we
Have to spend upon the Earth.

We do well to pay
Attention to impulses
Of our inner child
For their creativity
And joy brighten up our days.

There is a child in
Every one of us gifted
With the very best
Parts of us, innocence and
Lively imagination,

I am
A poet who

An artist who attempts to capture all

Journal entry:

Journal 10-28-20120001

The following poem was prompted by The Sunday Whirl. The words in italics were provided there. If you need a challenge visit that site.

Magnificently Blessed

A single thread winds
Between men and women bound
By the Lord’s power
Within tender loving bonds
Which can never be damaged.

Every single one
Is greater than realized
Better than we wish
More awesome than we may think
Held in Christ’s perfect esteem.

Each child of God makes
Their way through life guided by
The Holy Spirit,
Totally surrounded by
Jesus’ unending care.

The following poem is in answer to the prompt at Free Write Friday. I hope you will check out that site for inspiration.

Fully Bound

Abandoned, not me,
I am intimately loved
By the Creator
Of the entire universe,
God forever cares for me.

Every day God gives
Me much more than I deserve,
He watches over
Me and keeps me completely
In the circle of His love.

It is opposite
Of abandoned that I am,
Lavishly, truly,
Totally held in God’s sweet
Affection is my living.

365 Creativity Project-Day 290

Journal entry:

Journal 10-25-20120001

The following poem is a farcical comment on our times…

Utter Disbelief

Are you serious?
Did you mean to say those words?
I think you might be
Mistaken, thinking wrongly,
Surely this cannot be true.

I have been counting
On our lasting forever
I made many plans
For our future, not knowing
You would ever change your mind.

Love is our bedrock
We have built our lives around
Each other with no
Intention of letting go
Of one another today.

It is not certain,
I can scarcely believe it,
You cannot mean it,
There is too much going for
Us for it to be over.

Tell me why you have
Suddenly changed your status,
All our friends will know.
Facebook is so important,
Why say you are single now?

365 Creativity Project-Day 289

Journal entry:

Journal 10-24-20120001

Today’s poem is a chant, prompted by the challenge at Poetic Asides. If you need inspiration visit that blog.

Beautiful People, Gorgeous Country

The people further away
From the city of Atlanta
Are kinder than I am used to,
The mountains are alive with color.

I stopped for directions
A couple of times and the people
Are kinder than I am used to,
The mountains are alive with color.

Is it my imagination or is it true
That the country people
Are kinder than I am used to,
The mountains are alive with color.

I traveled far into north Georgia,
North Carolina, Tennessee and folks
Are kinder than I am used to,
The mountains are alive with color.

The people further away
From the city of Atlanta
Are kinder than I am used to,
The mountains are alive with color.

365 Creativity Project-Day 288

Journal entry:

Journal 10-23-20120001

I used the prompt at Carry On Tuesday to help me develop the following poem. If you need something to spark your imagination, please visit that site.

Life’s Secret

Life is a song – sing it.
Make a joyful noise unto
The Lord who watches
Over you every moment,
Blessing you through His goodness.

Life is a game – play it.
Have fun, laugh, make the best of
Every single hour
Allowing yourself to play
Even if you should not win.

Life is a challenge – meet it.
Do your very best at all
The things given you
To accomplish in your life,
Never, ever, once give up.

Life is a dream – realize it.
You have so much talent and
So many great gifts
Your aspirations can come
True if you believe in them.

Life is a sacrifice – offer it.
There will always be problems
To be overcome
And you may have to give more
Than you ever expected.

Life is love – enjoy it.
You have opportunities
To find happiness
In each day on which the sun
Rises with you still living.

Journal entry:

Journal 10-21-20120001

The Sunday Whirl provided the prompt for the following poem. The words in italics came from the wordle there. You might want to visit that site for inspirations.

Missed Opportunity

I saw your face through
A café window where you
Sought shelter from storm,
You sat beside a green fern
Near a sturdy cabinet.

You ate some peanuts
With everything happening
Round your position,
Your waitress did her tiresome
Job without anyone’s help.

I thought my guide would
Know how to handle problems,
But he occupied
Himself with the soccer score,
I would not recommend him.

I then abandoned
My tour for indoor comfort
Wanting to engage
You in conversation, but
I was too shy to approach.

When you got up to
Leave my tender heart broke in
Pieces, but I was
Too uncertain to delay
Your progress, I let you go.
