365 Creativity Project-Day 276

Journal entry:

Journal 10-11-20120001

Today’s poem was prompted by Trifecta. You might enjoy visiting that site for inspiration.

Defying Mortality

He was taken by
Death away from this acreage,
And the shadow of
His passing hangs over this
Place falling into disuse.

The grass grows high and
Underbrush begins taking
Over the good land;
Death lingers on horizon
His scythe always at ready.

I live in the light
Hiding myself in brightness
Defying Death’s hand
Reaching out for my shoulder,
I will not go quietly.

I am well aware
That all my days are numbered,
But I happily
Pass the hours without worry,
Hoping Death will grow distant.

I nourish those who
Depend on me and nurture
Them with gentle care
Holding Death far separate
From everyone who I love.

I am grateful:

1.   I am going to be able to have Alex excused from jury duty.
2.   My all-in-one prints photographs well.
3.   We do not get much junk mail.
4.   I have gathered a good many points through My Coke Rewards.
5.   I am finishing this very early.

I hope you have had a good Thursday. I urge you to get out a piece of paper and do some creative writing. If you are a visual artist take time to draw a picture or take a photograph. Anything you create is worthwhile.

As a prompt, write about something you would like to achieve. This might be a long time goal, or something you would like to complete during this day. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you found it entertaining. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share with me, please leave a comment. Please consider following Chronicles so you receive updates.
